UK Welcomes Approval of Defence Treaty

The British Government welcomes the US Senate’s vote earlier this week to approve the UK-US Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty.

The treaty will reduce bureaucracy associated with the transfer of defence equipment and information between the UK and US. It was signed three years ago.

Following approval of the treaty, President Barack Obama called Prime Minister David Cameron to share the good news. The White House later said in a
statement that passage of the treaty is “evidence of broad, bipartisan support that undergirds the special relationship”.
