Kei Terauchi appointed General Manager at Luce Restaurant at the InterContinental Hotel

The InterContinental San Francisco announces the appointment of Kei Terauchi as General Manager for the Michelin-starred Luce restaurant. Joining a team of talented food and beverage professionals, Terauchi has worked a number of front-of-house roles in restaurants around the globe including the two-Michelin star Gion Sasaki restaurant in Kyoto, Japan and the three-Michelin star Masa restaurant in New York.

Terauchi brings more than ten years of experience in the restaurant service industry to the Luce team. She spent a year with Le Groupe Alain Ducasse working as Service Manager at Alain Ducasse New York at the Essex House, as well as two years as Assistant Manager at Masa in New York City. She was also the opening General Manager for 15 East Restaurant, which received recognition from both the New York Times and Michelin Guide.

In 2008, Terauchi moved to Japan, working as a server at Gion Sasaki in Kyoto in addition to further honing her business skills as an Accountant and Business Administrator at the Kyoto International School. She returned to the United States and in early 2010 went back to her college and graduate school training, interning with Minnesota Public Radio, editing audio files, writing scripts, and collaborating on marketing materials.

While Terauchi’s career path included experience in business, accounting, music, and more, she always found herself drawn back to the hospitality industry. She returned to the restaurant world, accepting the position of General Manager for Le Belle Vie in Minneapolis. In this role, she oversaw day-to-day operations including floor coordination, hiring and training, as well as assisting the owner/wine director with the restaurant’s award-winning beverage program.

Terauchi has a Bachelor of Arts in Music and French from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania as well as a Masters of Arts in Music Theory and History from Stony Brook University in New York. She is fluent in both Japanese and French.
