On Tuesday June 14th, The British Consulate very kindly hosted “Exceptional British Endeavors – An Evening with British Rower Lia Ditton”. The evening was generously sponsored by GBX, Montgomery Pacific Law LLP and the Silicon Valley Internship Program.
Following the Networking reception, British Consul-General Andrew Whittaker welcomed all and set the scene for Lia’s awe-inspiring presentation
Lia Ditton, 36, is a professional sailor and writer, passionate about sharing her extraordinary experiences at sea by translating them into contemporary art installations. With more than 150,000 nautical miles of experience – the equivalent of 8 laps of the globe – Lia has competed at the a highest level in some of the world’s most challenging ocean races. In 2018, Lia will harness her experiences and attempt to be the first woman to row solo across the Pacific, from Japan to San Francisco. .
Through her words and a slideshow, guests were captivated as Lia shared the trials and tribulations that accompany the unforgiving and challenging endeavors that are inevitable with ocean crossings as well as the happy and more comical moments that you might expect!
