Rebecca (Bec) Murphy is the Senior Manager of Surface development (R&D) at Athleta. Athleta is a performance lifestyle clothing brand founded in Petaluma, it was acquired 15 years ago by Gap.inc based in San Francisco.

Bec currently oversee’s all surface development on fabric. This includes onboarding new techniques and bringing them to market. Working across supply chain and product development in Asia while working closely with the Product Team’s in SF.

Prior to Bec joining Athleta she has worked in Print/Textile Design and Product Development at such brands as Abercrombie and Fitch, Old Navy, North Face and Marks and Spencer.

After obtaining her degree from the University of East London in Fashion Design and Marketing, Bec left the UK almost 15 years ago spending time in Ohio, Istanbul and San Francisco.

In her spare time, Bec is a keen hiker as well as rediscovering cooking over the past 2 years.
