The UK government has announced that the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (commonly referred to as the UK-US data bridge) has now been established, and businesses can start using it from 12 October 2023.
Welcoming the recent developments in the UK-US Data Bridge regulations, BritishAmerican Business CEO Duncan Edwards said:
“Businesses on both sides of the Atlantic tell us that creating a UK-US data bridge will not only simplify data transfers between both countries but will also remove legal uncertainty and relieve companies of the current onerous and bureaucratic processes.
“Fostering a more efficient environment for data transfers will boost growth opportunities for transatlantic businesses, as well as deliver on the Atlantic Declaration’s ambition to deepen UK-US economic integration.
“The UK-US data bridge will provide much needed certainty for data flows and enhance privacy and protection standards. The establishment of this new framework will help promote secure, cross-border data exchanges.”
