British American Business Council Names British Benevolent Society as Charity Partner at Annual Christmas Luncheon
San Francisco. August 11, 2023: The British American Business Council Northern California (BABCSF) has named the British Benevolent Society of California (BBS) as its charity partner for the 60th Diamond Annual BABC Christmas Luncheon. The British Benevolent Society of California, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, provides critical aid and relief to British citizens in need.
“This year’s Diamond celebration lunch will help support the important work of the BBS,” said Jo Healey, executive director of the BABC. “As our British, US and diplomatic communities gather on December 15 to celebrate the holidays and the business and cultural ties between Northern California and the UK, we also want to acknowledge and support the important philanthropy and community impact of the BBS.”
Established in 1858, the BBS’s mission is to help and support British Nationals. The BBS supports those who have fallen on hard times due to the pandemic, are unhoused, have experienced domestic abuse and violence, or have fallen severely ill with no health insurance. The BBS also helps those who need to be repatriated to the United Kingdom due to family or financial distress.
“The BABC Board of Directors is delighted to partner with the BBS,” said BABC Board Member and event Chair Kathleen Kimura, MBE. “The BBS has been a community partner for many years, and it is fitting to spotlight and support their work as the BABC celebrates six decades of Christmas Luncheon success. The Christmas Luncheon is not only a time of celebration, it’s a time of reflection on the importance of helping those who need a hand-up during difficult times.”
“The BBS is honoured to be nominated as this year’s BABCSF charity partner,” noted Kelly Ducourty, President of the BBS. “This partnership will raise our profile and help us continue to help British Nationals who find themselves in need of a helping hand. We thank the BABCSF Board of Directors for this acknowledgment and demonstration of support.”
