Welcome to BAB’s Policy Update for September 2019. With the summer break over, we wasted no time in getting back into the swing of things with some excellent engagements on both sides of the Atlantic.
September started with our London team welcoming the new Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the US Embassy London, Rosemary Gallant, to our Kensington office, followed by a fantastic roundtable with Andrei Iancu, Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, and Director, USPTO for a roundtable discussion on the future of Intellectual Property protections.
Our New York team capped off this month at the offices of members Standard Chartered Bank, where they welcomed the Secretary of State for International Trade and Director of the Board of Trade, and Minister of State for Women and Equalities, Elizabeth Truss MP for an exclusive evening reception. BAB was also present in a special breakfast roundtable with the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, as part of the UK Governments engagements around the UNGA in New York.
BAB ended September with a team delegation visit to Washington, D.C., with a programme that included a dinner with the Cato Institute, a Transatlantic Reception and a roundtable on US and UK perspectives on moving the bar on digital trade.
