On the night of Monday June 24th, the BABC Young Professionals hosted the Annual Great British American Pub Quiz at our favorite pub, Harrington’s Bar and Grill. This year the coveted trophy was fiercely contested by 17 teams of intrepid quizzers hailing from both the UK and the States, some veterans of the game, and some fresh faced rookies.

The quiz, hosted by talented quiz master, William Goff, quiz creator Kirsty Cannon and BABC volunteers extraordinaire Corey Hastings and Sofia Pavlova, consisted of 8 rounds of questions designed to test both British and American knowledge.

• Music

With a lively crowd on good form enjoying their great food and beverages, Will and the BABC Team ran a smooth operation, keeping the eager and competitive bunch in check, fielding questions and heckles (a certain Harry Potter based heckle – apologies again) with ease and grace.

The quiz was once again a very close affair, with numerous teams fighting for the top five spots! In particular, former champions climbing up the ladder with a bid to reclaim their prize and return to the office trophy in hand.

After a hard-fought battle at the top, Team Florin Pensions took home the BABC Pub Quiz Florin Pensions Cup – back to it’s original home after a number of years flying the nest. They took home 4 tickets to a weekday San Francisco Giants game and are now the proud owners of 4 San Francisco Giants baseball caps to wear on their day out, all kindly donated by Giants Enterprises! Their team name will be engraved onto the trophy to display proudly on their mantelpiece.

Only five points away, in second place, came Team BABLeap! They took home four RSM branded Brookstone wine bottle openers alongside four bottles of Penfolds wine, which we hope will be consumed in celebration of their excellent achievement.

In third, a mere four points behind, winning 4 Furnished Quarters goody bags containing multiple branded goodies were Team Wilton & Bain! Congratulations and we hope you enjoyed your night.

Additionally there were prizes for the best team name as well as to the team taking home the wooden spoon. Best name went to “Make the BABC Great Again” who took home four Robert Walters branded water bottles! Last place were awarded four Florin Pensions branded wine bottle stoppers – minus the wine to bottle stop.

Commiserations go to the losing teams, we know many of you will be back next year to try again to reach the top and take home that trophy– we are already looking forward to it!
