BABC Director’s Pipe-athon Raises $3,000 for American Cancer Society

BABC Northern California Director and 20/20 Productions CEO Andy MacKay raised over $3,000 over the New Year, by playing Auld Lang Syne on the bagpipes in all 18 bars in Alameda on New Year’s Eve.

The Hogmabay Pipe-athon was to raise money for the American Cancer Society.Accompanied by the “Blues Brothers”, aka The Collectors, Andy completed the challenge in 1 hour 22 minutes – a record for the event (well actually it was the first event of its type anyway….).

“We had a great reception wherever we went – the idea was to raise money for a worthy cause, introduce a wee bit of Scottish New Year tradition into the Bay Area, and have a laugh doing it!Many thanks to all the bars, supporters and donors who made us so welcome!”

The event looks set to become an annual fixture on the Alameda calendar. For more information and for online donations go to: Team ACS Pipe-athon
