BABC August 2018 Trade and Investment Update

Welcome to the August Trade and Investment Update

We hope August offered you a chance to rest and recuperate after what has been a busy year thus far. As we move into the final quarter of 2018, we look forward to welcoming as many of you who can make it, to one of our fantastic chapter events which take place all over the UK and North America. Check out the Upcoming Events section for more details.

The UK Government formally launched its new Export Strategy this month, with the ambition to increase exports as a percentage of GDP to 35%. With the United States maintaining its position as the UK’s largest single-country trading partner, we are eager to see how this new Export Strategy helps take more UK businesses transatlantic. More information on the Strategy can be found in the Business Opportunities section below.

Looking forward to September, Britain’s northern cities will be visited later this month by a trade delegation from the State of Rhode Island. The visit provides an opportunity to showcase both the fantastic cities of the north of the UK including Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as the brilliant companies and their products from the state of Rhode Island. More information can be found in the Business Opportunities section.
In addition to the above delegation, the State of Rhode Island will also be sending a delegation to Yorkshire and the Humber, this time organised by the UK’s Department for International Trade. The delegation includes Stefan Pryor, Secretary of Commerce for the State of Rhode Island, who is looking to meet potential UK suppliers and customers in the renewable energy sector and supply chain. More info in the Business Opportunities section.
