BABC 62nd Annual General Meeting 2018

On Wednesday June 27th BABC Patron member Squire Patton Boggs kindly hosted the 62nd BABC Northern California Annual General Meeting. The proceedings were conducted with stunning views of the bay from their 25th floor offices, our thanks again for hosting us!

The evening kicked off with some friendly networking, with attendees enjoyed the complimentary food and beverages provided by Squire Patton Boggs at their impressive offices. The official meeting began with a welcoming speech from BABC President Nicholas Unkovic who delivered a touching tribute to late BABC chairman Colin Brown, who sadly passed this year.

This year’s AGM also marked the final year of Nick’s presidency of the BABC Northern California. Nick took the opportunity to thank everyone he had been involved with through the BABC, giving special thanks his fellow directors, BABC staff and volunteers, and singling out BABC Executive Director Jo Healey for special praise and thanks for her work over the years of his presidency. Nick also took the time to congratulate Stuart Bagshaw, a stalwart of the BABC Northern California board of directors, who was recently announced as the President of the global umbrella organization of the BABC.

Then, filling in for treasurer Stephen Legg who was unable to attend, BABC Executive director Jo Healey delivered the treasurer’s report on the BABC 2017-18 financial year. She noted that this year was a record year for the chapter, with significant increases in revenue from membership and events, leading to the chapter becoming the largest in the entire BABC organization in terms of total members.

Jo then spoke briefly on the day-to-day activities of the BABC before Director Ed Grenville took the podium to explain the election process and read the results.

Outgoing president Nick Unkovic was succeeded by Melissa Harkcom. Maya Mancuso was elected to the role of Vice President of membership, while Steven Wares, Ed Grenville and Stephen Legg retained their roles as vice president of events, secretary, and treasurer respectively. All of the other proposed directors were elected to their posts. We look forward to working with you all over the next year!

The post meeting session consisted of further networking open to both Members and Non-Members.
