A Small Business Work Plan: Recommendations for a Transatlantic US-UK SME Agenda

BAB has published its latest policy paper “A Small Business Work Plan: Recommendations for a Transatlantic US-UK SME Agenda.”

In preparation for the sixth US-UK SME Dialogue planned to take place in the UK later this year, the paper outlines a comprehensive US-UK SME agenda that can guide government and stakeholder action in the months to come.

Building on the stakeholder discussions at the fifth US-UK SME Dialogue in June 2022 and drawing on extensive work and experience over the past eight years, recommendations include the establishment of joint principles for future US-UK SME cooperation, permanent mechanisms for government and stakeholder engagement on US-UK SME trade, joint reporting on the barriers faced by SMEs when trading across the Atlantic, specific resources for SMEs, and SME-focused campaigns.

Support for SMEs is an integral part of the US-UK trade agenda for both governments and business. US-UK SME Trade was one of the core themes in BAB’s 2021-2022 Policy Agenda. SMEs also featured as one of the workstreams at the US-UK Dialogues on the Future of Atlantic Trade in March and April this year.

BAB’s latest paper is a timely guide and reference for policymakers and stakeholders to create an actionable SME agenda that will deliver for both countries’ people, businesses, and economies.
