On Friday, December 11th, 2020, the BABC Northern California would have celebrated its 57th Annual BABC Christmas Luncheon Fundraiser but alas, as for the rest of the world, we had to pivot to a virtual evening presentation due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
While not even close to the normal festivities usually enjoyed by over 1000 guests of the Bay Area’s international business community, the virtual celebration was joined by close to 100 guests on zoom with a spectacular live show airing on our computers. Guests adorned their ugliest Christmas sweaters and we all had a great evening in a time where so we were all locked away at home.
Thanks to our friends at Werqwise,we took over their Speakeasy and turned it into a TV studio and produced a live broadcast. Our Executive Director, Jo Healey, Andy Mackay and team and our Emcee, Liam Mayclem did a spectacular job of virtually re-creating all the fun aspects of the physical event including bagpipes, Loyal toasts, the invocation, christmas pudding parade, a live auction and business card-drawing and some celebrity drop-ins including a good old banter with some of our Rugby Friends in the UK.
Take a look below at the Highlight Reel and the virtual “fireside chat” with Gavin Hastings, Jeremy Guscott, Phil Vickery and moderator Dallen Standard.
With huge thanks to all who joined us and our sponsors and donors who made it all possible.
