SAN FRANCISCO FUN FACT

The color of the Golden Gate Bridge is not red, but “International Orange.” It wasn’t even an official paint choice, but a primer coat used to protect the components during shipping. The Navy wanted to paint the bridge with a striped yellow and black pattern. Reasoning behind that was for visibility, and to make it stand out against the fog.
