F&L Named FDI Advisory Firm of the Year 2017 – London, UK

The inaugural FDI Awards last night named Fitzgerald & Law (F&L) ‘FDI Advisory Firm of the Year’.

F&L’s Senior Partner, Gabriel Parrish, accepted the award at the ceremony which took place at the Montcalm Hotel Grand Ballroom in Marble Arch in front of over 250 leaders from the FDI industry. The FDI Awards are designed to honour those making significant contributions to UK inward investment.

The esteemed judging panel included Rupert Gather (Chairman of InvestUK), Nicola Horlick (CEO of Money&Co), Robbie Lyle (Co-founder of Berry Palmer and Lyle/Director of the Commonwealth Disaster Management Agency) and Sir Eric Peacock (Chairman of the Peacock Foundation).

Rupert Gather of InvestUK commented, “Submissions representing firms and individuals from all corners of the UK FDI ecosystem were considered: SMEs, investment, foreign exchange, tax advisory and law firms, education consultants, property agents and Government regional development agencies. Competition was extremely high and we are very pleased to recognise the winners for their service excellence and contribution to FDI.”

Chairman of the Judging panel, and Executive Chairman of InvestUK, Rupert Gather, said: “we were particularly impressed by Fitzgerald & Law’s long-term commitment to, and expertise in Foreign Direct Investment, and by the success of its London Calling initiative, to maintain the flow of inward investment into the UK from North America and other continents.”

About FDI

Foreign direct investment (FDI) refers to cross-border investments made by residents and businesses from one country to another, with the aim of establishing a lasting interest in the country receiving investment.

International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, announced that the UK benefitted from record-breaking inward investment by foreign companies in 2016. The UK saw an 11% increase on the previous year, with almost 1,600 new jobs a week created by foreign direct investment in 2015 to 2016. The UK’s strong performance sees it retain its spot as the number one place in Europe for foreign investment.
