After years in high growth mode – rents increasing and vacancy plummeting – the San Francisco market took a long breath in 2016 with asking rents and vacancy both plateauing and not showing much movement in any direction. The spike in sublease space on the market in early 2016, which can be seen as an early warning sign for market trouble, has dropped again as the appetite for such space from growing tech firms remains strong.
See the data on asking rents, vacancy, and availability below, along with details of some recent transactions and a survey of asking rents around the City.
Thank you to the 25 clients we represented in completed transactions in 2016 – relocations, renewals, and subleases – in San Francisco, Oakland, and Marin.
We look forward to working with you when your space needs next arise and are always happy to have further discussions on the Bay Area market and what your real estate options may be.
Best wishes for much success in 2017 –
