BABC Trade and Investment Updates

May/ June 2018

The May/June period has certainly been busy for the BABC network, particularly with the launch of a brand new trade publication as well as the ever-fantastic Annual Transatlantic Conference, hosted this year by BABC Midlands who delivered an incredible event with a brilliant line-up of speakers.

In addition, BABC appointed a new President. Congratulations to Stuart Bagshaw, Chief Executive of British American Business LEAP, LLC, who takes on this role after having served as President and Chairman of the BABC Chapter in Northern California.

It does not stop here. Over the next few weeks BABC looks forward to two more events this month that the network supports; the International Business Festival, running until 28 June in Liverpool, UK; and the SelectUSA Investment Summit between taking place 18-20 June.

April 2018

This Spring, BABC is busy preparing for the Annual Transatlantic Conference, held this year in Birmingham on 6-8 June. The Annual Conference provides BABC with the opportunity to bring together members from all 22 chapters throughout the US and UK for a 2-day program of high-level business discussions and networking. We have previously held these in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Washington and San Francisco. For more information on this year's conference, please click here.

To give small businesses the opportunity to grow and connect, BABC Midlands has provided a special 40% discount to those companies with less than 20 employees wishing to attend the conference. For more information, please click here.

April also brings with it preparations for next month's implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GPDR) which enhances the protection of EU citizens' data.

March 2018

In the UK and the US, small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economies. The majority of exporting companies are SMEs. Here is where innovation happens; here is where growth becomes tangible.

This month, we dedicate this newsletter to all these small and medium-sized enterprises and the people behind them. And there is good reason for this. Recent research from our partners Mills & Reeve LLP ‘ Expanding international horizons ’ and the ‘ US Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index ’ show that SMEs are optimistic when it comes to trade and investment, despite the political times of change we are in.

This month we celebrated some of these companies at the BAB Transatlantic Growth Awards in London. Companies who stand out and serve as an example of the thousands who trade and invest every day across the Atlantic.

For smaller businesses in particular, taking the first steps can be challenging. This is why there needs to be a support system and an environment that helps businesses grow. We have been proud to support the launch of the U.S.-UK SME Dialogue in Washington, D.C. - a platform that will help to further bring together efforts aimed to help businesses turn their transatlantic business ambition into reality. We encourage you to join us in these efforts. Together with our partners from business and Governments, we are here to help!
