British Benevolent Society of California Launches Quartelely Newsletter

Imagine yourself on holiday in San Francisco, when you are suddenly robbed of all your money, credit cards, airplane tickets and your passport. You may not have living relatives or resources to draw on, so you go to the British Consulate for assistance. The staff there will explore all possible avenues of assistance and if deemed appropriate will work with the British Benevolent Society, providing funds for maybe a hotel room, meals, a passport (no, they’re not free and take a lot of work to secure in an emergency) and in extreme cases even a ticket home.
